Just before our AGM last week we heard that one of our original Friends, Mike Todd, had died. Mike had been a supporter of Stara Woods for 20 years, an executive committee member, tireless at working parties, and instrumental in the construction of the Colquite pathway, setting up and maintaining the website and the rebuilding of the barn along, with many other contributions, notably the new bridge, that without Mike would not exist. We will all miss him enormously, and our hearts and condolences go out to his wife Julia and his family. RIP, Mike.

As I write this, the last update in 2022, and with our 20th year anniversary of Stara Woods starting in January, it’s maybe a good time to remember other memorable and unusual events in the woods, such as the Mad Hatter’s Tea-party! It’s also 10 years since the opening of Stara Bridge, when we made it onto Spotlight Southwest! So I’ve put together a selection of photos of some of these events, hoping that that will stir you into coming up with some more ideas of what we could do in 2023! Do have a look at them – how many can YOU remember, and what other Stara events live in your memories? Do let me know – email me at annehugstara@gmail.com, and send any photos you may have.
