ABOUT THE BRIDGE APPEALBy the end of the month our bridge appeal will have ended, and hopefully we may have completed all the steps necessary to get the bridge opening safely again. AN ENORMOUS ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who has donated to enable this to happen, and more, as thanks to your generosity we will have not only reached our target but exceeded it, allowing us to build up our reserves in advance of the next phase of essential woodland management work that has been gradually depleting our funds over the years since the Forestry Comission grant aid stopped. The support for the bridge & the woods has been fantastic!

ABOUT THE BRIDGE APPEALThanks also to Luke Shaw of Shaw Welding in Launceston and his team for their repair work that was speedily and well done AND even came in a little under budget! They brought some very useful kit with them, including a portable generator on small caterpillar tracks to cause minimal damage when working in a sensitive environment like Stara Woods.

Despite how well this first phase of the work has gone, we cannot afford to be complacent: we still need to spend more on the bridge before being sure it is safe to reopen. Aside from the appeal, our sole regular source of income is from those of you who have chosen to become Friends of Stara Woods and make a regular monthly or annual donation of whatever amount you can afford or choose. Those who have not yet become Friends, I would urge you to PLEASE consider doing so – you will become part of our lifeblood! Contact me via the information at the end of this article.
